SHU Student Union

Certainly one opportunity to not miss out on when becoming a Sheffield Hallam student is the student union. There is no gruelling form filling process or fee to pay, you're automatically a part of the student union! The Hubs is the heart of the student union, located in the City Centre only a short walk from the Owen Building. Here you can buy a drink at the coffee shop, socialise with friends or even find a quiet area to study when the work load starts to pile on. There are even opportunities to play table tennis, pool and board games. Sheffield Hallam student union also offers a student only bar, providing a friendly and safe environment for all students to enjoy. HallamNation is a weekly event established by the university which has been operating for a decade and a half. Every Wednesday at Crystal Bar, students arrive in their hundreds to enjoy a stress free night. The student union also offers various volunteering opportunities, this can be relevant to your course or something to put on your CV for future job prospects. Work placements are also offered, all you have to do is ask! Whether it be for work, or to socialise the student union is definitely something in which students should take advantage of.
