When it comes to student life, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that a lot of meals will be beans on toast. However, there are many different cheap alternatives, you’ve just got to learn to be able to cook, even just a little. Also learn to budget, which will come to you quite swiftly. Anyhow these are the top 5 meals that are easy and cheap for any university student.
Vegetarian Pasta
(3kg bag of Pasta £2.50, Iceland. Sainsbury’s pasta sauce 500g, £0.95.)
2. Rice, Vegetables and Chicken
(1kg basic rice £0.65, Sainsbury’s. Frozen Vegetables 900g, £1 Iceland. 8 breaded chicken-breast £2.29, Iceland.)
3. Baked Potato and Tuna Mayo
(4 baking potatoes, £0.69 Aldi. Tuna in spring water 340g, £2.10 Sainsbury’s. Basic mayonnaise 500g, £0.55 Sainsbury’s.)
4. Pizza and chips
(Frozen Pizza Iceland own, £1. Iceland own chips 1.25kg, £1.)
5. Fajitas
(Fajita kit 500g, £3 Iceland. 3 mixed peppers, £1 Sainsbury’s. Spring Onions 100g, £0.55 Sainsbury’s. Any other vegetables. Beef strips 380g, £3 Iceland.)
The ingredients listed may seem expensive, however everything listed can be used again for other meals, they are not just one-off items for these specific meals. Some of these items will last for weeks to months. Also, don’t forget to check sell by dates, the better the date the longer they last.
